Former West Virginia University basketball standout Joe Alexander has signed to play professional basketball overseas.

Alexander signed a one year contract to play for BC Krasnye Krylya. He spent last season in the NBA Development League with the Texas Legends. Alexander averaged 20 points and nine rebounds per game with the Legends and was named to the All-Star team.

Alexander worked out for numerous NBA teams prior to the NBA lockout. All indications are this lockout could be a prolonged one. Many NBA players are looking into the option of playing overseas during the lockout to continue to earn some money while they are not getting paid by their NBA teams.

Alexander was the eighth overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. He was later traded by the Bucks to the Chicago Bulls and has not played in the NBA since the 2009-2010 season.
