WVU Student-Athlete of the Week Named

Posted: Updated:
MORGANTOWN -

WVU men's soccer forward Andy Bevin has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts this past week.

A freshman from Napier, New Zealand, Bevin scored a total of three goals during the week and also recorded an unofficial assist.

Bevin scored his first career goal against No. 4 Maryland in the seventh minute of action. He also scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in the last 15 minutes of the first half against Binghamton. Bevin has now scored the Mountaineers' last three goals.

With his goals against Binghamton, Bevin becomes the first freshman to score the first home WVU goal since fellow New Zealander Jarrod Smith did it in 2003.

Special Notes of the Week
* The Mountaineer men's soccer team will travel to California for the first time in team history this weekend, facing No. 8 UC-Santa Barbara on Friday night and Cal Poly on Sunday.
