After taking a brief drop in the rankings, the West Virginia University men's soccer team has moved up to No. 16 in this week's Soccer America poll and No. 19 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll released today.
WVU is also ranked No. 11 by Goal.com and No. 16 by CollegeSoccerNews.com.
The Mountaineers went 2-0 last week, defeating Richmond 4-1 on Friday and beating Duquesne 3-1 on Sunday. Midfielder Shadow Sebele registered a seven-point weekend with two goals and three assists, while freshman Andy Bevin had two goals and an assist against Richmond. Sebele was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while Bevin earned Rookie of the Week honors.
WVU will open the BIG EAST portion of the schedule with a match against USF at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 3:30 p.m. The match will also be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network and will feature Eric Frede on the play-by-play and Richard Broad handling color commentary. The match has been designated as a "Dollar Day" with all tickets, hot dogs, popcorn and Coca-Colas for just one dollar each.
