MORGANTOWN -

Former WVU Guard Joe Mazzulla was recently hired as an assistant coach for the Glenville State men's basketball team.

Mazzulla had an opportunity shortly after his senior season to become an assistant coach at Nova Southeastern, but turned it down for the potential opportunity to play professional basketball overseas. Mazzulla did not find any good overseas opportunities and decided to get his coaching career started.

Glenville State Head Coach Stephen Dye announced the news via twitter, "Today was a great day for the Pioneer Basketball program. Today I hired @JMazzulla21 as an assistant coach."

Mazzulla has been accepting congratulations via twitter and indicated he has already started his new job.

Mazzulla joins another former Mountaineer on that staff. Former WVU Center Rob Summers accepted an assistant coaching position at Glenvile State in the summer.
