Mountaineers No. 24 in USTFCCCA Poll

Following a second-place performance at theToledo Bubble Buster Invitational, the West Virginia cross country team is rankedNo. 24 in the United States Track and Field
and Cross Country Coaches ofAmerica (USTFCCCA) national poll released
Tuesday.

After a No. 19 ranking last week, the Mountaineers were defeated
lastweekend by an unranked Arkansas squad, which jumped to No. 18 in the
country withthe victory.

Despite having three runners finish in the top 10 at the 4k race, WVU
arrivedin second place with 57 points to the Razorbacks' 36 points. Kate
Harrison (1st),Kaitlyn Gillespie (2nd) and Sarah-Anne Brault (5th) led
the team, while KaylynChristopher (17th) and Stephanie Aldea (32nd) also
scored.

The Mountaineers compete on Saturday at the Greater Louisville
CrossCountry Classic in Louisville, Ky. The 5k race begins at 10:15 a.m.


West Virginia retained its No. 5 rank in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic
Regionalstandings released Monday. BIG EAST foes Georgetown (1),
Providence (3) andVillanova (5) maintained their top 5 national status
over the weekend.

Cal went from unranked to No. 10 following a first-place finish at the
RoyGriak Invitational as the top nine schools did not change. The Pac-12
has six teams in the top 30 for the conference lead,followed by the BIG
EAST (5) and Big Ten (5).
