Three West Virginia wrestlers
received a preseason ranking, as InterMatWrestle.com released its
preseason wrestling rankings for the 2011-12 season on Friday morning.
Redshirt junior Colin Johnston
(133), redshirt senior Matt Ryan (184) and redshirt senior Brandon
Williamson (HWT) each were ranked within the top 20 of their respective
weight class.
Johnston will come into the season with a No. 15 ranking, while Williamson received a ranking of No. 20.
Both wrestlers return to the Mountaineers this year after receiving a redshirt last season due to injury.
Ryan will begin the season with a
No. 18 ranking and is looking to build on a season in which he advanced
to the round of 12 at the NCAA Championships.
WVU will open its season on Nov. 6 when it travels to College Park, Md., for the University of Maryland Duals.
