The
West Virginia women's tennis team completed its final day of
competition at the Bulldog Tennis Invitational in Athens, Ga., on Sunday
morning.
The
Mountaineers' lone matchups of the day were singles action against
Virginia, who provided yet another stiff challenge for WVU.
Sophomore Melis Tanik was matched against No. 18 Lindsey Hardenbergh of Virginia.
Tanik challenged Hardenbergh in the first set, however, she fell 7-5.
Hardenbergh closed out the match in the second set as she defeated Tanik 6-0.
Sophomore Mary Chupa squared off against Virginia's Molly O' Koniewski and also provided a tough challenge.
After falling 6-1 in the opening set, Chupa came close to taking the second set, but lost 7-5.
Freshman Ikttesh Chahal saw action against Caryssa Peretz and lost in the straight sets, 6-0, 6-4.
The
Mountaineers' final match of the fall season will be held from Oct.
21-25, as they travel to Old Dominion for the ITA Atlantic Regional in
Norfolk, Va.
