Virginia women's soccer player Sara Keane was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper
of the Week for the second consecutive week, officials announced
Monday.
Keane
logged all 90 minutes in goal to lead the Mountaineers to a Division
title with their 1-0 win over BIG EAST rival Pitt on Friday. She made a
career-high eight saves, including three fantastic saves in the second
half to preserve the shutout. The Mt. Laurel, N.J., native faced 16
shots and five corner kicks in helping the team record its ninth shutout
of the season – fifth in league play. With the victory, Keane pushed
her record to 14-4-0 on the season.
The
Mountaineers have qualified for the BIG EAST tournament in 12 straight
years; only Rutgers has equaled the feat. WVU will face the winner of
St. John's/Seton Hall in a BIG EAST quarterfinal match on Sunday, Oct.
30, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
