WVU Rifle Ranked No. 2

Posted:
MORGANTOWN -

After one week at the top, the West Virginia University rifle team is ranked No. 2 in this week's College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll.

The Mountaineers (5-0, 3-0 GARC), previously ranked No. 2 on
Oct. 18, are bumped from the top by defending NCAA champion Kentucky.
The Wildcats moved up one spot in this week's poll on the basis of
their NCAA-record 4711 score, shot in a victory over Memphis on Oct. 30,
while WVU's ranking is based on the winning 4688 score the team shot
against then-No. 9 Murray State on Sunday.

The CRCA issues new rankings every week this season, and each
poll will be based on the team's most recent reported score.

TCU, the 2010 NCAA champion, remains at No. 3 (4663) for the
second straight week, while UTEP and Ole Miss trade spots and are now
ranked No. 4 (4659) and No. 5 (4650), respectively.

Alaska-Fairbanks jumps two spots to No. 6 (4647), while Nevada
and Army drop one spot each to No. 7 (4641) and No. 8 (4637),
respectively. Memphis enters the top 10 at No. 9 (4633), while Nebraska
holds steady at No. 10 (4626).

After shooting five matches in three weeks, the Mountaineers
will enjoy an open weekend before playing host to the No. 5 Rebels on
Saturday, Nov. 12, at the WVU Rifle Range. The match is expected to
start at 8 a.m.
