Throughout the week, WVi will look back at some memorable moments in the Backyard Brawl rivalry that helped make it what it is today.
Let's go back to the 99th meeting between West Virginia and Pitt. It was November 16, 2006 in Pittsburgh. This proved to be one of the best games Pat White and Steve Slaton played together.
White rushed for 220 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 10 yards per carry that night at Heinz Field.
Slaton carried the ball 23 times for 215 yards and two touchdowns, and if that was not enough to embarrass the Pitt defense, the two players hooked up through the air as well.
White completed 11 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns. Both of those passing touchdowns went to Steve Slaton who caught six passes for 130 yards.
WVU hammered Pitt in that meeting 45-27. The Mountaineers went on to finish that season 11-2. That included a win over Georgia Tech in the Gator Bowl.
We'll have another Backyard Brawl moment for you tomorrow.
