Former WVU Coach Rich Rodriguez Hired by Arizona

Former WVU Head Coach Rich Rodriguez has agreed to become the next Head Coach at the University of Arizona.

Rodriguez is currently working as a college football analyst for CBS.

Rodriguez left West Virginia following a 13-9 loss to Pitt in 2007. That loss prevented WVU from playing for a national championship. He spent six seasons at West Virginia leading his alma mater to a 60-26 record. Rodriguez led WVU to a win over Georgia in the 2006 Sugar Bowl.

Rodriguez departed West Virginia for Michigan. That experience lasted three years before Rodriguez was fired. He led Michigan to one bowl appearance, which resulted in a 52-14 blowout loss to Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl.

Arizona fired previous Head Coach Mike Stoops earlier this season. Arizona Athletic Director Greg Byrne announced the hire via twitter with a post that read, "And the new Arizona football coach and his family is..." Following that sentence was a link, which led to a photo of Byrne, Rodriguez and his family sporting Arizona football caps.
