Mountaineer Freshman McCune Sentenced

West Virginia freshman Tommie McCune has the opportunity to have a criminal retail fraud conviction wiped from his record if he completes his probation period.

According to the Saginaw News, Saginaw County District Judge Christopher S. Boyd sentenced the Mountaineer forward on Thursday to six months probation for a third-degree retail fraud charge and conspiring to commit the crime.

Under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, McCune can have the conviction removed from his record if he successfully completes the probation. McCune was charged with the crime in August while the Mountaineers were in Italy over the summer and pleaded guilty in November.

McCune averages 4.4 minutes per game in 10 appearances this season for West Virginia.
