MORGANTOWN -
Following her strong showing against Rutgers, including three first-place
finishes, sophomore gymnast Hope Sloanhoffer has been named the West Virginia University Student-
Athlete of the Week.
Sloanhoffer was instrumental in WVU's 193.425-191.65 victory over Rutgers on Jan. 15 at the WVU
Coliseum,
as the Cornwall, N.Y., native accounted for three of the team's five
individual wins and finished first on vault (9.875), beam (9.775) and
floor (9.8). She also finished second overall with a 38.825 mark.
She has now scored 9.8 or better in 35 of 48 career routines.
Prior to yesterday's win over Rutgers, Sloanhoffer was named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League
(EAGL) Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 10.

* Tennis: WVU will open its spring season with a match at Ohio State on Jan. 21, at 1 p.m.
* Wrestling: Wrestling will open its EWL season with home meets against Bloomsburg and Clarion this weekend.
