The West Virginia University football team recently signed
27 players as part of its 2012 signing class on National Signing Day. Five of
those 27 players will count against the 2011 class because they enrolled in
school early.
Scout/FoxSportsNet recently released its recruiters of the
year for each conference. West Virginia's Daron Roberts and Robert Gillespie
shared the honor for the Big East.
This was Roberts' first year as a college recruiter. His
career previously included several different stints in the NFL.
He recruits an important area for West Virginia and that is
the Washington, D.C, Baltimore and Virginia areas.
Gillespie's primary recruiting territory is in the state of
Florida. The Mountaineers signed 12 players from Florida in 2012.
Zac Spavital was named the recruiter of the year in
Conference USA. He is the brother of West Virginia Quarterbacks Coach Jake
Spavital.
