Roberts, Gillespie Named Recruiter of the Year

The West Virginia University football team recently signed 27 players as part of its 2012 signing class on National Signing Day. Five of those 27 players will count against the 2011 class because they enrolled in school early.

Scout/FoxSportsNet recently released its recruiters of the year for each conference. West Virginia's Daron Roberts and Robert Gillespie shared the honor for the Big East.

This was Roberts' first year as a college recruiter. His career previously included several different stints in the NFL.

He recruits an important area for West Virginia and that is the Washington, D.C, Baltimore and Virginia areas.

Gillespie's primary recruiting territory is in the state of Florida. The Mountaineers signed 12 players from Florida in 2012.

Zac Spavital was named the recruiter of the year in Conference USA. He is the brother of West Virginia Quarterbacks Coach Jake Spavital.
