MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (Feb. 7, 2012) – With
each riding seven-match winning streaks, redshirt seniors Brandon
Williamson (HWT) and Matt Ryan (184) have risen in this week's rankings.
Williamson, who notched his 20th
win of the season on Saturday night, rose to No. 16 in the Amateur
Wrestling News poll, entered InterMat's poll at No. 20 and held steady
at No. 24 in Wrestling Report.
Ryan rose to No. 16
in InterMat after he was able to score a 3-1 decision victory over the
Pitt's Andy Vaughan. The native of Eighty-Four, Pa., is also ranked No.
20 by Wrestling Report, No. 18 by Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine and No.
20 by AWN. Ryan has a 14-3 overall record this season.
Also joining
Williamson and Ryan in the rankings this week is junior Shane Young
(125), redshirt sophomore Nathan Pennesi (133), sophomore Michael
Morales (141) and redshirt junior Lance Bryson (174).
Young is No. 26 in the Wrestling Report poll and has compiled an 18-5 overall record this season.
Pennesi is No. 24 in Wrestling Report and leads the team with a total of 23 wins this season.
Morales, who secured his third pin of the season on Saturday night, is ranked No. 31 by Wrestling Report.
Bryson is ranked No. 22 by Wrestling Report and is one win shy of reaching the 20-win plateau this season.
The Mountaineers will return to action this Friday, as they travel to Athens, Ohio for a dual meet against Ohio at 7 p.m.
