The West Virginia University rifle team is ranked No. 3 in the final College Rifle Coaches
Association (CRCA) Poll of the regular season.
The CRCA Poll is released every week, and this week's ranking
is based on the team's three-match average, with each score pulled
from a different venue.
The averages that determined this week's rankings make up half
of the team's final qualification score for the 2012 NCAA
Championships; the remaining 50 percent will come from scores shot at
this week's NCAA qualifying matches.
Based on the polling criteria, the Mountaineers (9-2, 4-1 EAGL)
own a 4680.67 season average.
TCU again ranks No. 1 with a 4700.0 average, while Kentucky, the
defending national champions, ranks No. 2 with an average of 4699.0.
Army (4667.67) and UTEP (4657.67) continue to rank No. 4 and No.
5, respectively.
The remainder of the Top 10 also remains intact, with
Alaska-Fairbanks at No. 6 (4654.33), Nevada at No. 7 (4652.33), Ole Miss
at No. 8 (4651.67), Jacksonville State at No. 9 (4650.00) and Murray
State at No. 10 (4633.67).
The Mountaineers shoot against VMI in an NCAA qualifying match
this Saturday, Feb. 18, at 8 a.m., at the WVU Rifle Range.
