The BIG EAST Conference office announced the 2012 BIG EAST Conference Championship bracket today and has West Virginia entering the second round as the No. 5 seed to face the winner of the No.12/13 bracket of Syracuse and Providence  on Saturday, March 3 at noon, at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn.

WVU advances to the second round based on a first-round bye earned as the No. 5 seed with a 21-8 overall record and 11-5 in the BIG EAST.

The Mountaineers have competed in the BIG EAST tournament for 10 consecutive seasons under head coach Mike Carey. WVU has made two appearances in the BIG EAST Championship game in the history of the program (2006 & 2010), both under Carey.

WVU's game will be broadcast live on BIG EAST TV and will stream live free at www.bigeast.org. The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds held on March 4-5 will be on ESPNU, while the championship game on Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m., will be carried live on ESPN/ESPN2.
