MORGANTOWN -

Perhaps having its backs against the wall is a good thing. WVU entered the week with a pair of must-win games to help solidify an NCAA Tournament appearance.

WVU beat DePaul in Morgantown and knocked off South Florida to give the Mountaineers a quality road win to add to their resume and a 9-9 record in Big East play.

The win over South Florida coupled with DePaul's 86-58 blowout of Seton Hall pushed WVU into eighth place and gave the Mountaineers a first round bye in next week's Big East Tournament.

WVU will face either the 16 seed DePaul or the 9 seed UCONN Wednesday at noon.

WVU beat DePaul earlier this week, but lost to UCONN earlier this season.
