Robert C. Byrd senior standout football player Vinnie Fusco signed a letter of intent to join the WVU Football Team, as an invited walk-on.
The lineman is a three-time All-State pick. Fusco earned First Team honors in his junior and senior years. He was also a finalist for the Hunt and Huff awards both years.
In his final season at RCB Fusco's accomplishment's include: U.S. Army All-American nominee, W.Va. pre-season All-State First Team, ESPN pre-season All-State First Team, All-County First Team, All-Conference First Team.
Vinnie said he's been talking to WVU for a while but when it came to recruiting, he knew getting a spot with the Mountaineers would be tough.
"You know, I've always said I'm not competing against the kids around here. I'm competing against everybody in the nation. If it's somebody from Bridgeport or somebody from Lewis County, that's not who I'm trying to compete against. I'm trying to compete against the kid from California, the kid from Texas. It's such a national level; it's a whole different level of competition," said Fusco.
Fusco measures up to other recruits at 6'2", 287 lbs. His primary positions are nose guard and defensive tackle. He can also play guard and fullback.
Fusco plans on majoring in Business at WVU.
