The West Virginia University baseball team will travel to Akron for a non-conference midweek game on Tuesday at Munson Stadium in Canton, Ohio. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Mountaineers (14-23) are looking to end a four-game losing streak after falling to Maryland last Wednesday and Rutgers in a three-game BIG EAST series over the weekend. Akron (14-21) comes into the game looking to get back into winning ways as well. The Zips dropped two of three at Buffalo in MAC action last weekend.
Neither team has decided on a starting pitcher for Tuesday's game.
The teams played earlier in the season in a doubleheader at Hawley Field, splitting the games. Sophomore left fielder Matt Frazer led the Mountaineers at the plate, batting 5-for-7 with two runs, four doubles, one RBI and one walk.
Frazer continues to lead the team with a .305 batting average, 18 runs scored, 15 doubles, four home runs and 19 RBIs. Freshman center fielder Bobby Boyd is batting .302 with 22 runs, four doubles, one homer and nine RBIs. Boyd leads the team with 15 stolen bases in 17 attempts. Sophomore first baseman Ryan McBroom leads the team with 29 RBIs, while batting .297 with 19 runs, 11 doubles and four home runs.
The Zips are led at the plate by Tyler Begun, who is batting .352 with 11 doubles, four triples, five homers and 22 RBIs. Brandon Winter is batting .302 with four doubles and seven RBIs, while Brady Stewart has six doubles and 14 RBIs to go along with a .282 batting average.
The squads will complete the four-game season series with a game in Morgantown on Wednesday, May 9 at noon.
