The WVU baseball team begins a three-game BIG EAST series against Pitt from April 20-22 at Hawley Field.
Friday's game will begin at 7:05 p.m., and has been designated as a "Dollar Night" with all tickets, hot dogs, popcorn and Coca-Colas available for just one dollar. Saturday's game will begin at 2 p.m., and Sunday's finale has a 1 p.m. start time. The games on Friday and Sunday will be video streamed through MSNsportsNET.com, while WAJR-1440 AM will carry the games on the radio.
Sophomore right-hander Corey Walter (3-3, 5.52 ERA) will start Friday's game for the Mountaineers, followed by sophomore left-hander Marshall Thompson (3-5, 5.33 ERA) on Saturday. Sunday's starter has yet to be determined.
Pitt coach Joe Jordano will counter with right-hander Matt Wotherspoon (3-1, 4.86 ERA) in game one, left-hander Matt Iannazzo (4-2, 4.34 ERA) in game two and right-hander Ethan Mildren (3-3, 4.06 ERA) in game three.
WVU is coming off a 17-6 win last Tuesday at Akron in which sophomore left fielder Matt Frazer led the team offensively with a home run, two doubles, two runs and four RBIs. The first four batters in the lineup combined for 10 hits, 11 runs, eight RBIs, three doubles and one home run.
Frazer leads WVU in batting average (.318), doubles (17) and home runs (5). Sophomore first baseman Ryan McBroom has a .301 batting average with 21 runs, 11 doubles, four homers and a team-leading 30 RBIs. Freshman center fielder Bobby Boyd is batting .311 and leads the team with 17 stolen bases in 19 attempts.
Pitt is led offensively by Rick Devereaux, who is batting .357 with 25 runs, 12 doubles, one triple, five home runs and 40 RBIs. Elvin Soto leads the team with six home runs, while Anthony DeFabio has a team-leading 39 runs scored.
