West Virginia University Sports Information Director Bryan Messerly confirms that Guard Paul Williamson has been granted a release from the WVU men's basketball program. That paves the way for Williamson to transfer.

Williamson appeared in 20 games last season scoring 22 points and adding nine assists.

Williamson came to WVU from Logan High School. His position coach at WVU was Jerrod Calhoun, who recently left to take over as Head Coach at Fairmont State University.

Williamson could be looking to follow Calhoun to Fairmont State. That move would give him more playing time, yet still keep him in the Mountain State.
