PITTSBURGH -
Former WVU baseball player David Carpenter is in Pittsburgh this weekend as his Houston Astros take on the Pirates in a three-game series, beginning Friday night.
Carpenter was born in Morgantown and grew up in Fairmont before becoming a Mountaineer, so the close proximity to home gave his friends and family a chance to come up and see him in person. A member of Houston's bullpen, Carpenter is in his first full major league season after the St. Louis Cardinals drafted him in 2006.
