PITTSBURGH -
West Virginia University Guard Jabarie Hinds suffered a
right ankle injury in a Pittsburgh Basketball Club Pro-Am Summer League game
Monday night. The injury knocked him out of the game, but does not appear to be
serious.
"It's a slight roll, nothing serious," Hinds stated. "I'm
just going to ice it a little bit."
Hinds appeared rolled his ankle when he went up for a layup
in the second half of the game.
"It happened a few plays before I made that layup," Hinds
said. "I landed on it wrong again. I just came out. I didn't want to mess it up
more."
Hinds tried to walk it off on the sideline before getting a
bag of ice and watching the rest of the game from the bench.
Hinds was playing pretty well up to that point. He scored 14
points until the injury occurred about halfway through the second half.
Hinds is scheduled to play again on Wednesday night.
"I'm going to ice it," Hinds said of his chance at playing
Wednesday night. "I should be able to go. I'll see how it goes tonight and
tomorrow and I will probably be here on Wednesday."
Hinds and his teammates from WVU arrived a few minutes late,
which diminished his playing time a little. He is enjoying a solid performance
in the summer league. Hinds score 17, 27 and 14 points respectively in the
three games to date.
Hinds' Oliverio Peppers team, which also features WVU
players Matt Humphrey and Terry Henderson is scheduled to play Steel City
Tickets.com, featuring Mountaineers Aaric Dickerson and Pat Forsythe Wednesday
night at 8 p.m.
