WVU Set To Celebrate First Day In Big 12

Posted:
MORGANTOWN -

People typically countdown the final hours, minutes and seconds of a given year on New Year's Eve. The same is taking place throughout the day on Saturday as WVU fans countdown their finals hours, minutes and seconds in the Big East.

At midnight, West Virginia University will officially leave the Big East and join the Big 12. Sounds like a reason to celebrate, right?

WVU will do just that on Sunday. The Mountaineers are going to celebrate their first day in the Big 12 by throwing a party.

This party will be closed to the public, but is open to all WVU student-athletes, coaches and staff. West Virginia Athletic Director Oliver Luck will make a few remarks to the attendees.

WVU will welcome a special guest to the party. New Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby will be in Morgantown to officially welcome the Mountaineers to the conference.

The celebration will be informal with just a few remarks from Luck and Bowlsby.

This is the first time West Virginia University is changing conferences since it joined the Big East in 1995.
