Former West Virginia University Linebacker Darryl Talley will be enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame later today.
Talley is just the fourth person from WVU to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame. He will join former WVU quarterback Major Harris and former WVU fullback Ira Rodgers as the only other WVU players in the hall. Former WVU Head Coach Don Nehlen is also enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame.
"Considering how many kids play this game and how many guys had a chance to make it and to be selected is truly an honor," Talley said.
Talley set a school record with 484 career tackles at WVU and that record stood for 21 years. He also recorded 28 tackles for a loss, 19 sacks and five interceptions in his WVU career.
"My experience at West Virginia University was amazing," Talley smiled.
"I learned how to play the game and about technique. I learned how to be
a young adult. It was truly a great experience."
Talley was a second round pick of the Buffalo Bills in the 1983 NFL
draft and had a very successful NFL career. He played for 12 seasons for
the Bills, Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings.
Talley joins 16 other players and five coaches in the 2012 enshrinement class.
Enshrinement festivities kicked off Friday night with the Hall of Famer Pep Rally and Blazer Presentation at the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Indiana.
Festivities will conclude with the Enshrinement Dinner and Show. It will be streamed live on ESPN3 at watchespn.com.
