WVU's Zublasing Finishes First Event In Olympics

Posted:

Several current or former West Virginia Student-Athletes are competing in the 2012 Olympics in London, England.

Italy's Petra Zublasing was the first with WVU ties to compete in the games. She will be a senior at WVU this year and competed in the women's 10m air rifle event.

Zublasing just missed qualifying for the finals after shooting a 396. Five shooters finished the qualifying round with a 397 and competed in a shoot-off for the last four spots in the finals.

Zublasing entered the event ranked No. 32 in the world and outperformed scores she earned in her previous three international events.

WVU and Italy teammate Nicco Campriani is considered the favorite to win Gold in the men's 10m air rifle competition. That event is scheduled to be held on Monday.
