MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (August 7, 2012) -
The West Virginia University women's swimming and diving team has been
named a College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar
All-American team for its work in the classroom last spring.
The squad finished the spring semester with a 3.12 GPA, after finishing the fall with a 3.19 GPA.
"Doing
well in the classroom always come first and I'm very proud of the women
continuing their academic excellence," coach Vic Riggs says. "Academics
are a priority of the program and the success shows as this is the
ninth-consecutive semester that the women have earned this honor."
The
award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams,
who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall and
spring semester.
