Former West Virginia University basketball star Da'Sean Butler is rejoining the Mountaineers. WVU men's basketball sports information director Bryan Messerly confirmed that Butler will serve as a graduate assistant for the 2012-2013 season.
Butler tore his ACL in the 2010 Final Four. He was still a second round pick by the Miami Heat in the 2010 NBA draft.
Butler spent last season in the NBA development league with the Austin Toros before being released towards the end of the season due to an injury.
Butler recently underwent a third surgery on that same knee.
Butler is enrolled in graduate school and will begin his new job when school starts on Monday.
Butler finished his college career as just the third player in school history with more than 2,000 points.
