WVU Stadium Walls To Remain Gray For Now

Milan Puskar Stadium's makeover is on hold. West Virginia University issued an RFP, or Request For Proposals last month, to install a "digitally printed graphic vinyl banner with aluminum frame."

The idea is to use those banners to cover up the plain, gray walls that line the field.

"The qualified bids that came in were not accepted for various reasons," WVU Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Michael Fragale stated. "Therefore, we may have something this year and we may not. At this stage, we are still looking at all options"

It looks like the new football season will begin with the gray walls; however, it may not end that way.

"Everyone in the department is well aware the walls are gray and need to add some color and flavor to the stadium," Fragale said. "At this stage, we are not happy with the bids that came in and we want to make sure we get it right."

WVU remains adamant that it intends to do something to cover up the gray walls. As a result, the University is asking for its fans to have a little bit of patience "It is a work in progress," Fragale stated. "We are still looking at all options for the walls."

WVU will kickoff the new season at Milan Puskar Stadium against Marshall on September 1. The gray walls will also likely make another appearance.
