West Virginia University has one vacant scholarship heading into the 2012-2013 season. It previously belonged to Forward Pat Forsythe, but he decided to transfer to Akron this summer.
The Mountaineers appear to be looking to fill Forsythe's spot on the roster with a European player.
"We are pursuing a Ukranian player," Huggins told wvillustrated.com.
The Ukranian player WVU is believed to be targeting is 18-year-old Volodymyr Gerun. He is a 6-foot-9, 200 pound forward.
Gerun led the Ukranian National Team in scoring, rebounding and blocks at the under-18 European Championships.
Huggins can talk much more specifically about any recruit once they have signed a letter of intent. Gerun has not yet done that or enrolled at WVU, but sources tell WVi that could happen as early as next week.
