West Virginia's senior quarterback kicked off his final season for the Mountaineers in outstanding fashion. Geno Smith's stellar performance in guiding WVU to a 69-34 victory over Marshall earned him the Walter Camp National Player of the Week honor on Sunday.
Smith completed 32 of his 36 pass attempts on Saturday while racking up 323 yards through the air and connecting with his receivers for four touchdowns.
Along the way, Smith set the career mark for passing touchdowns among WVU quarterbacks, taking over Marc Bulger for the top spot with 60 aerial scores.
It wasn't just the air raid working for Smith on Saturday, either, as he scampered for 65 yards on the ground, including a 28-yard touchdown run on a busted play.
Smith is named the first offensive player of the week winner for the Walter Camp honors, joining Alabama's Dee Milliner, who took the defensive award.
