The opening week honors continue to mount for West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith.
On Wednesday, the senior quarterback was named the Davey O'Brian Quarterback of the Week following his standout performance in the Mountaineers' 69-34 win over Marshall to kick off the 2012 season.
Smith, in just three full quarters of play, threw for 323 yards on 32-of-36 passing and four touchdowns. He also added 65 yards on the ground, including a 28-yard touchdown run on a busted play in the third quarter.
Smith connected with six different receivers along the way, including three different receivers in the end zone.
Earlier in the week, Smith was named the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week and the Big 12 gave him the top weekly honor for that side of the ball as well.
Among those on the Davey O'Brien honorable mention list are Heisman frontrunner Matt Barkley of USC and Baylor' Nick Florence.
