Game scenarios and speed seemed to be the key points for Mazey and his team last Thursday.
With assistant coaches Derek Matlock and Steve Trout gone, one of the athletic trainers stepped up to lead outfield stretches to begin practice. Trout will be starting his recruiting campaign for WVU in Florida and spreading to other surrounding states.
Head coach, Randy Mazey, pulled his team in after stretches for decision-making drills.
Outfielders worked on throwing decisions with runners on base. This helped prepare the Mountaineers for quick, game-speed decisions they will have to make on defense as well as on offense when on the base path.
As for the walk-ons, all seven of them are still present in practice. Each player still wearing shirts they brought from home, giving them more of a presence during the day , so coaches can keep a closer eye.
With help from Mother Nature and a great coaching staff at work, it looks like we can expect a lot of excitement from our Mountaineers this baseball season.
