WVU Football Nabs 16th Commitment

Posted: Updated:

After a disappointing showing on Saturday night, the West Virginia University football team received some much needed good news Monday when the top-rated high school linebacker from the state of New Jersey pledged his commitment to the Mountaineers.

Malcolm X. Shabazz High School's Al-Rasheed Benton verbally committed to WVU Monday morning, according to sources, as a part of the 2013 recruiting class.

The 6'2" 220 pound Newark native reportedly chose the Mountaineers over numerous offers that included the likes of Arizona State, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Maryland, Syracuse and others.

Benton is listed as a three-star prospect according to both Rivals.com and Scout.com.
