WVU Puts Up Record-High Graduation Success Rate Score

The NCAA released data today showing the combination of all West Virginia University's varsity athletic teams have a Graduation Success Rate (GSR) score of 83 percent.

This average is the highest since the NCAA started gathering this information in 1995.

Since last year, the Mountaineers' score is up three points and up 13 points from just three years ago.

Not only is this score a new mark for West Virginia, but it ishigher than the NCAA's overall four-year GSR average score.

These scores are based on the four entering freshmen classes in Division I from 2002-03 through 2005-06.

As stated by the NCAA and WVU Sports Communication, the four-year GSR scores (percentage) for WVU's varsity sports teams (2002-03 to 2005-06): baseball 64; men's basketball 100; football 79; men's soccer 77; men's swimming 77; wrestling 83; women's basketball 86; women's cross country/track 100; rowing 64; gymnastics 85; women's soccer 88; women's swimming 96; women's tennis 100; volleyball 100; and rifle 75.
