CHARLESTON -

The Big 12 Conference released the 2013 WVU Mountaineers football schedule on Tuesday afternoon, and there were immediately a few things that jumped out.

For starters, the Mountaineers will face the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman during week two of the college football season on Sept. 7, 2013.  During week two this season, the Mountaineers had a bye week after opening the season with a 69-34 victory over C-USA's Marshall.

WVU won't receive their first bye week net year until Oct. 12th, which happens to be the midway point on the schedule.

It also appears that Iowa State-WVU will become a new Thanksgiving weekend tradition, as the game is currently set for Saturday, Nov. 30th.

The non-conference portion of the schedule features home games against William & Mary and Georgia State and a neutral site game in Baltimore Ravens stadium against ACC foe Maryland.

The Terrapins will not begin play in the Big 10 conference until the 2014-2015 season, while Georgia State will begin their first season in the FBS next year as a member of the Sun Belt.  William & Mary is an FCS opponent who competes in the Colonial Athletic Association.

This is only the second time since 2003 that the Mountaineers will not have a Saturday home game in consecutive weeks at any point during the season.  The other time occurred in 2010.

Similar to this year, all of WVU's games are slated to be played on Saturday.  The Big 12 does list the Mountaineers-Cyclones game as a possibility to be moved up a day from Nov. 30th to Black Friday depending on TV, which would make the schedule identical to this year with eleven games on Saturday and one on Friday.

Homecoming will be on Oct. 19th against Texas Tech, while Mountaineer Week falls on Nov. 9th when WVU faces the Texas Longhorns.

Kickoff times and TV selections will be made at a later date.

The entire schedule is as follows (home games in CAPS, Big 12 games denoted w/ asterisk):

Aug. 31 - WILLIAM & MARY (CAA)

Sept. 7 - @ Oklahoma*

Sept. 14 - GEORGIA STATE (Sun Belt)

Sept. 21 - vs. Maryland (ACC) [Baltimore, Md.]
