West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week in the Big 12 Monday following his play in the Mountaineers' 59-10 win over Kansas.
Smith shares the honor in the final week of the season with Baylor running back Lache Seastrunk.
In leading WVU to a senior victory, Smith completed 23-of-24 passes for 407 yards and three touchdown passes. His 21-straight completions were good for the best streak in both West Virginia and Big 12 history.
In completing 95.8 percent of his passes, Smith set the Big 12 record and tied the NCAA mark for the best percentage with at least 20 attempts in a game.
This is Smith's third time being named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week this season. Only Kansas State's Collin Klein has received the honor as many times.
A WVU player has been on the list seven times with receiver Tavon Austin being named both the Offensive (Maryland game) and Special Teams Player of the Week (Texas game), while running back Andrew Buie got the nod on offense for his performance against Texas and linebacker Isaiah Bruce on defense in the season-opening win over Marshall.
For the season, Smith has completed 71.4 percent of his passes for 4,004 yards and 40 touchdowns with just six interceptions. His 2012 season has set program records for completions and touchdowns and trails only his own 2011 mark for passing yards, which he could surpass with 382 in the Pinstripe Bowl later this month.
Smith's other winning performances came against Marshall and Baylor.
