MORGANTOWN -

Former West Virginia University men's basketball star Kevin Jones wasted little time proving he deserved to be on an NBA roster. The Cleveland Cavaliers promoted Jones from the Canton Charge to their NBA roster in Cleveland.

Jones averaged 23.6 points, 12.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals in the Charge's first five games of the season.

Jones was signed by the Cavaliers to a rookie contract last week. He was left on the Charge roster until the Cavaliers felt they would be able to use him in game action at the NBA level. Apparently, it took very little time for the Cavaliers to think of ways to use him.

Jones is expected to be in uniform when the Cleveland Cavaliers meet the Chicago Bulls Wednesday night.
