Six Mountaineers on All-Big 12 Teams

Tavon Austin headlines a list of six West Virginia football players to make it on the All-Big 12 team following the 2012 regular season.

Austin was named the conference's co-Special Teams Player of the Year along with Oklahoma State kicker/punter Quinn Sharp after the senior racked up 738 yards on kick returns and 165 on punt returns with a touchdown on each.

In addition to his special teams honor, Austin was named to the All-Big 12 first team as both a wide receiver and a return specialist. Austin finished the season with 1,259 yards on 110 receptions with 12 touchdowns.

Joining Austin on the first team is junior receiver Stedman Bailey, a Biletnikoff Award finalist along with Baylor's Terrance Williams, who also made the list. Bailey has racked up a nation's best 23 touchdowns with 106 receptions and 1,501 yards.

On the second team, quarterback Geno Smith and center Joe Madsen are recognized for their roles in WVU's campaign. Smith has completed 71.4 percent of his passes for 4,004 yards and 40 touchdowns with just six interceptions.

West Virginia's Karl Joseph made the honorable mention list after his standout freshman season with the Mountaineers. The safety finished the regular season with a team-best 95 tackles, while adding one sack, two interceptions and three forced fumbles to go along with a number of big hits in the WVU secondary.

Finally, senior wide receiver Ryan Nehlen is named honorable mention for the Scholar Athlete of the Year. Nehlen, a Morgantown native, has 12 receptions for 101 yards and two touchdowns in his career for the Mountaineers.
