West Virginia University quarterback Geno Smith declined an invitation to play in the 2013 Senior Bowl, this according to one of his recent tweets.
Smith posted to twitter, "Thanks to the Senior Bowl for the invite, but for the record I will not be participating. Once again thanks to the Senior Bowl committee."
The Senior Bowl currently lists four quarterbacks on its roster, NC State's Mike Glennon, Oklahoma's Landry Jones, Florida State's EJ Manuel and Arkansas' Tyler Wilson.
There are no West Virginia players on the roster for the game, which is set to be played on January 26.
Each team in the Senior Bowl is coached by a different NFL staff. This year's game will feature the Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders.
Declining to participate indicates Smith believes he has nothing left to prove and does not want to risk injury in the game. Many of the so-called experts list Smith as one of the top quarterbacks in the draft.
Geno Smith set numerous records at WVU and finished his college career with 11,662 pass yards, 98 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in 44 games.
