CHARLESTON -
The WVU football staff continued its recent recruiting success in the Buckeye State on Tuesday afternoon when Grant Lingafelter (Chagrin Falls, Ohio / Chagrin Falls) switched his verbal commitment from Miami (Ohio) to the Mountaineers following a weekend visit to Morgantown.
The athletic 6'5" 265-pound offensive lineman committed to the RedHawks in late October but continued to receive interest and offers from BCS-AQ schools after a strong senior season.
One of those offers in recent weeks came from WVU, and Lingafelter previously held offers throughout the process from Cincinnati, Marshall and a host of MAC schools while accumulating strong interest this month from B1G schools such as Illinois, Indiana and Michigan State.
Lingafelter announced the commitment over twitter, stating "Officially a commit of #WVU #MountaineerNation".
He was recruited by offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh and will not have any trouble academically qualifying. Rivals.com lists him as a three-star prospect.
He becomes the second straight verbal commitment from Ohio, as four-star wide receiver Shelton Gibson (Cleveland Heights) announced his commitment just 13 days ago, and they also join four-star linebacker Darrien Howard (Dayton) in this recruiting class.
The 2013 class now stands at 23 commitments. National Signing Day is next Wednesday, February 6th.
