MORGANTOWN -

West Virginia running back Charles Sims will play one more game at the collegiate level, despite the fact that his Mountaineers are not taking part in the bowl season.

On Monday, the Reese's Senior Bowl announced that Sims had accepted an invitation to participate in the postseason all-star game.

Sims, in his one and only season with WVU, rushed for 1,095 yards on 208 attempts as a senior. He added 401 yards receiving and 14 total touchdowns as the Mountaineers' most consistent and versatile offensive threat.

A transfer from the University of Houston, Sims joined the team during the summer months and immediately shouldered expectations for his brief time in Morgantown.

He lived up to those expectations, being named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, despite his veteran status, as well as finding a place on the All-Big 12 first team.

The Reese's Senior Bowl is set for Jan. 25, 2014 and offers its participants an opportunity to play on teams coached by NFL staffs ahead of April's Draft.

Sims is one of 110 players who will have a chance to audition for the next level in the Senior Bowl.
