WVU Adds Georgia Southern to 2015 Slate

West Virginia University Director of Athletics Oliver Luck announced on Thursday that Georgia Southern has been added to the 2015 football schedule.

This fall, Georgia Southern will be competing at the FBS level for the first time after being a perennial FCS contender. The Eagles have won six FCS championships in program history and closed out their time at that level with an impressive upset victory at Florida to cap off the 2013 season.

The addition of Georgia Southern completes WVU's schedule, rounding out a non-conference lineup that includes Maryland and Liberty. Each of the non-conference games will take place in Morgantown at Milan Puskar Stadium. The Mountaineers will have four other home games in the Big 12 with Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas Tech and Iowa State visiting the Mountain State.

West Virginia will open the season with Georgia Southern in a game set for Sept. 5, 2015.

The Mountaineers close out their spring camp with the annual Gold-Blue Game on Saturday in Morgantown before beginning to focus on the season opener against Alabama. The Gold-Blue Game will be televised live on local West Virginia Media stations.

Fans are encouraged to use the Twitter hashtag #WVUFootballSG to ask questions that may be answered on the spring game broadcast.
