Tampa Bay Picks WVU RB Charles Sims

MORGANTOWN - Charles Sims became the first WVU football player to be selected in the 2014 NFL Draft when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers picked on Friday night.

Sims, who played one season with the Mountaineers, was the No. 69 overall selection, the fifth choice in the third round. He was the fourth running back to come off of the board.

In 2014, Sims rushed for 1,095 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. He is viewed as a duel threat option in the NFL for his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield or line up as a receiver.

Sims joins former WVU cornerback Keith Tandy in Tampa Bay under new head coach Lovie Smith, who replaced Greg Schiano.
