Cincinnati Bengals Take Will Clarke in NFL Draft

MORGANTOWN - The third round was the charm for West Virginia in Friday night's NFL Draft when two Mountaineers came off the board. Will Clarke become the No. 88 overall selection as the Cincinnati Bengals' pick.

A 6-foot-6, 270-pound defensive lineman, Clarke had been projected anywhere from a third- to sixth-round pick in most mock drafts and in the end, the Bengals saw enough to pluck him on the good end of that spectrum.

ESPN Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. spoke about Clarke after his selection and gave a little insight into why he believes the projections were so different depending on which expert you asked heading into this week's process.

"On a game to game basis, you see a second round grade, then you see a fifth or sixth round grade," Kiper said. "He could be a real force, but he's not there yet."

Clarke finished his senior season with six sacks and 49 tackles and made himself into a versatile defender under three defensive coordinators during his time at WVU. He joined The WVU Coaches Show in April to take a final trip around Morgantown before officially leaving his alma mater behind to focus on the Draft.
