WATCH: Mazey, Illig talk walk-off win vs. Penn State

PITTSBURGH - After jumping out to 2-0 lead in the first inning, Randy Mazey's Mountaineers looked like they might cruise to their second straight win over Penn State.

Then, West Virginia hit a slump at the plate, Penn State tied the game in the ninth on an error and the Mountaineers found themselves searching for a hero.

The man for the job? West Virginia native Chase Illig, who drove in Darius Hill in the 10th inning to secure a 3-2 victory. After the game, Illig broke down that winning at-bat, and explained what it might do for the team moving forward:

But Mazey wanted to see more from the Mountaineers, who have now won four of their last five. He said his team still hasn't found a way to be consistent:

The Mountaineers (14-15) return to action Wednesday night when they host Pitt.
