Four members of the West Virginia University women’s tennis team were named ITA Scholar-Athletes and the Mountaineers were named an All-Academic team for the sixth consecutive year on Thursday, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Graduates Paula Goetz (industrial engineering) and Abigail Rosiello (immunology and medical microbiology), as well as junior Giovanna Caputo (journalism) and sophomore Nicole Roc (finance) were all recognized by the ITA for their outstanding work in the classroom.

This marks the third ITA Scholar-Athlete selection for both Goetz and Rosiello, while Caputo earned her second honor in as many years.

To be named a scholar-athlete by the ITA, a student-athlete must meet a set of academic and athletic standards that consist of: being named a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and must be enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
