McKivitz named to All-Big 12 Preseason Team

Colton McKivitz has made a name for himself this offseason. The multi-year West Virginia starter is one of the senior leaders in this year’s locker room, and the honors he’s received this summer show that he is taking that role seriously.

Now, McKivitz is getting that recognition from outside his own coaching staff as he was named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Conference Team.

Going into his fourth year at West Virginia, the offensive tackle has played in all 38 games of his career, while starting in the last 35 of which consecutively. This is not his first conference honor, having previously been a two-time All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection and a three-time Academic All-Big 12 Second-Team selection.

McKivitz, a native of Jacobsburg, Ohio, is one of 10 seniors on the list, and the sole Mountaineer to be named.

Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger headlines this year’s list, earning not only the lone spot for quarterbacks on the list, but also earning a preseason Offensive Player of the Year nod. Oklahoma leads the pack in terms of selections this year with six Sooners making the team. Jalen Hurts, who is completing his transfer to OU from Alabama, was also selected as this preseason’s Newcomer of the Year.
