Sarah Osborn and Jared Eddy of the West Virginia University rifle team concluded their time at the 2019 USA Shooting National Championships for Rifle and Pistol with podium appearances on June 29 at the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit in Fort Benning, Georgia.
Osborn, a rising junior, captured the junior women’s 50m rifle prone title with a two-day score of 1235.1 (614.5, 620.6). A native of Hampton, Virginia, her score placed her sixth overall in the open competition.
The podium appearance was the second of the championships for Osborn, as she finished second in the junior women’s 50m rifle 3 positions competition on June 26 with a final score of 2309.
Incoming freshman Malori Brown placed sixth in the junior competition, 12th overall, with a score of 1221.8 (610.0, 611.8).
Eddy, a rising sophomore, finished second in the junior men’s 50m rifle prone competition with a mark of 1236.2 (613.6, 622.6). His two-day total placed him seventh overall in the open competition.
Earlier this week, Eddy won the junior men’s 50m rifle 3 positions title on June 23 with score of 2336.
Of note, former Mountaineer All-American Ginny Thrasher won the women’s 50m rifle prone title with a two-day score of 1246.3. The title was her second of the championships.
